Some of my favorites to not get published

Here are a couple that I shot for the paper that never made it in for one reason or another

From the Nationals game on July 4th, after Dimitri Young hit a 2 run homer

From a story about free lunches and summer camp programs. The DC Inspector General thought they were a waste of money, so we went for a look. I liked this one because the kid is framed by the person serving the pb&j. Didn't run becuase it was vertical, sometimes I hate the layout people.

From the Marine Corps parade honoring former Marine Bernard Shaw back in June. It was held at the Marine Corps Memorial (the Iwo Jima statue)

The Great White Mark

As I mentioned in the previous post, I will be posting some other creative endeavours on here now. This is one of them, a video from the Spring 2007 semester, for a class called Intro To Digital Media Production. I worked with my buddy Tom Wall on this one, looking into a GW personality, and it's most notable white rapper.

I learned a lot doing this project, mainly the similarities and differences between shooting video and shooting still, as well as dabbling in Final Cut Pro.

Back Again

After a while I have returned to the world of blogging. This site was, as some of you may know, always my photo blog, a place for me to show off photos to family and friends. This will remain true, but as I become more serious about a career in photojournalism this blog will serve as a clearing house for photos that don't get published for one reason or another, or photos that I just take for myself. It was also serve as a home to other artistic endeavours that I do.

I also encourage you to check out my semi- professional site, www.michaelricciophoto.com for my ever dynamic portfolio.
